MILLMASTER “LAB TREND”
With its “Lab Trend”, MillMaster TOP offers a comprehensive analysis tool for determining fluctuating yarn properties and their causes. Deviations in the yarn quality produced may result from the following factors:
- Raw material change
- Settings changes
- Wear and tear
- Dirt
- Climate change
The example below shows how spinning mills can use “Lab Trend” to analyze problems caused by missed cleaning intervals.
Figure 1 shows a clear increase in events in yarn classes A4, B4, C4, D4, C3 and D3. The number of events in these classes increases by up to 400%. This is an alarming anomaly that requires immediate action.

Solutions & benefits
Now it is important to find out the cause of this change and to initiate countermeasures. The information provided by "Lab Trend" about the changes in classes A4, B4, C4, D4, C3 and D3 (Fig. 2) can now be identified and narrowed down by means of the online yarn classification table.

The online yarn classification table shows possible causes of an increased number of events in the different classes:
A4
-
high RF speed
-
loose or spun in fly
-
foreign matter
-
type of spacers
C4
-
high RF speed
-
drafting faults
D4
-
drafting faults
C3
-
high RF speed
-
drafting faults
-
ring piecing
-
spun in fly
B4
-
high RF speed
-
loose or spun in fly
-
floating fibers and narrow cage length and tight cage settings
-
long fibers and narrow cage length and tight cage settings loose fly
-
excessive fluff in spinning department
D3
-
drafting faults
-
excessive fluff in spinning department cage settings
This list illustrates that the cleaning rules for the ring frame were not followed.
The information in “Lab Trend” not only makes it possible to take targeted action, it also results in constant yarn quality and enables maintenance intervals for the production machines to be optimized, ultimately resulting in reduced maintenance costs.
