BREMEN COTTON CONFERENCE 2018
Lecture of Ms. Sandra Meier, Product Manager Laboratory
The Loepfe LabMaster FIBERMAP sets a new standard for laboratory measurement of cotton. The testing device integrates the most important measurement functions into one system in order to complete the fiber profile throughout the whole preparation process of the spinning mill, from bale to finisher sliver. Apart from delivering the standard data known from cotton classification, detailed analysis of process relevant fragments such as neps, seed coat neps, trash and stickiness are integrated.
One of the unique features of the instruments is the automated measurement of stickiness. Over the past two years, numerous investigations and analyses on the measurement of this parameter have been carried out, the experience of several customers was collected and round trial results were analyzed.
The result of these efforts were shown during the renowned Bremen Cotton Conference, which was held from March 21st - 23rd 2018.
Loepfe LabMaster FIBERMAP is a reliable instrument for the measurement of stickiness for both cotton traders and spinners. As the instrument-to-instrument variation lies within the natural variation of the stickiness, it can be used to exchange stickiness results between laboratories and for the trade. A spinning mill can rely on the stickiness results for the selection of their daily lay-down in order to avoid surprises in the performance of the spinning mill.
We would like to invite you to discover more about the results of our investigations: what are the important influences of the stickiness measurement, what are our recommendations to avoid surprises when buying a cotton lot, and get convinced about the results of the first international stickiness round trials and experience in a spinning mill.
